Endoscopic resection is usually the first step of endoscopic therapy for Barret’s esophagus. It removes early cancers and dysplastic lesions from the esophagus, and also provides a good specimen for histopathological evaluation. The different procedures can be divided in Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD). The latter is usually performed by expert gastroenterologists due to its complexity. More detailed information of the different resection techniques is explained in the presentations and videos on this page.
